  1. SINGAPORE BUILDING MATERIAL OPERATIONS

SINGAPORE CEMENT TERMINAL

EnGro maintains its ability to service local (both bulk and bag) sales competitively via its state-of-the-art bulk terminal located at Jurong Port on Pulau Damar Laut's (PDL). The Cement Terminal is served by two dedicated berths, each with a 40,000 deadweight tonnes capacity and three sophisticated screw-type unloaders, each with a maximum rated capacity of up to 800 tonnes per hour.

The terminal has a storage capacity of 60,000 metric tonnes in two silos, - Duo-Cell and Multi-Cell configuration. All 9 cells have different storage capacities for delivery of different types of specialty cement in volume. It is designed to handle annual throughput of 1.2 million tons.

These modern facilities possess a materials receiving system, mixing plant for blending operations, bulk loading points for loading of various cements to tankers for bulk delivery, and automatic packing and palletizing systems for bagged cement operations. It's highly automated system using sophisticated Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system.

SINGAPORE READY-MIXED CONCRETE (“RMC”)

Serving as an extention to our bulk terminal operation, the RMC arm, Top-Mix ready-mix operation, is rapidly expanding to meet the strong demand in Singapore shown by the turnaround in the real estate market as well as the buoyant Singapore economy.

2. SPECIALTY CEMENT

  Our GGBS Business

Our outward-looking strategy since 2002 has brought us into North Asia, in particular, China followed by an investment in South Korea. Thus far, performance of our respective Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (“GGBS”) joint ventures (“JVs”) in China are encouraging and continue to expand.

We recognised the need to have a long-term presence in China and the importance of positioning ourselves in an emerging economic zone within China as well as establishing partnerships. Presently, China is enjoying enormous benefits from its continuing rapid economic development, and our investments in this transitioning market promise attractive returns.

Our GGBS production facilities – currently spread across 3 provinces in China, namely Hebei, Shandong and Jiangsu -- are ready to meet demand from addressable markets with a total population of around 200 million people. Our GGBS JVs’ production facilities are strategically located along the Beijing-Shanghai corridor and Beijing-Tianjin twin cities zone.

The 3 key locations of our GGBS growth

In Tangshan city, Hebei province, our TangLong and TangAng GGBS JVs’ facilities are within easy access to the rapidly developing Bohai Rim region; their proximity to Jing Tang port allows us to tap the export opportunities.

Our GGBS plants in China are located in 3 neighbouring provinces, namely, Hebei province, Shandong province and Jiangsu province. These provinces form the Beijing-Shanghai corridor which has a combined population of close to 200 million people.

In Hebei, our Tanglong GGBS plant (2 production lines with a total of 1.2 million tons per annum ("tpa") capacity) is located in Tangshan City while the TangAng GGBS plant (1 production line of 0.6 million tpa capacity) is located near Jing Tang port, which allows us to tap the export opportunities. Both Tanglong and TangAng are strategically located to access the rapidly developing Bohai Rim region.

In Shandong province, we have 2 GGBS plants located in Jinan City, comprising of Luxin (1 production line of 0.6 million tpa capacity) and Luang (2 production lines with a total of 1.2 million tpa capacity). In Shandong alone, our annual GGBS production capacity would rise to 1.8 million tpa by end of 2007.

The annual production capacity of our GGBS plant in HuaiAn, North Jiangsu province currently stands at 1.2 million tons.

In China alone, our annual GGBS production capacity has reached 4.8 million tons with the expansion of Huailong's second line. In addition, we have a joint venture GGBS plant in Incheon, South Korea, with an annual production capacity of 0.5 million tons. Our plants in China and South Korea now have a total combined annual GGBS production capacity of 5.3 million tons which will grow further.

VCEM – Premium GGBS

In 2006, we introduced a brand name for our GGBS product, namely “VCEM”, a mark of successful strategic alliance among our 3 GGBS JVs aimed at increasing our presence and penetration presence in an enlarged market. VCEM epitomizes a value-add, cost-effective, eco-friendly, material for the 21st century. In Chinese, it is called “偉聖”(“wei-sheng”).  The tagline “Building Durability” cements our commitment that our GGBS is capable of boosting the strength of high performance concrete (“HPC”) thereby constructing long-lasting, durable and eco-friendly buildings for our future generations.

Our scalable GGBS business model is evidenced by the success of our first GGBS JV followed by the formation of subsequent JVs thus far.

On the 26th of November 2007, EnGro was awarded the approval to use the Green Label by the Singapore Environment Council (“SEC”). With the award, EnGro's “VCEM” brand of Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (“GGBS”) and “P4246” / “P4246S” brands of blended cement have been acknowledged as “Eco-Friendly Building Material”. To-date, EnGro has 10 eco-friendly building materials certified by SEC with the Singapore Green Label certification.
